I want to go to university in Los Angeles. How much will it cost for 4 years and how do I go about applying?

I want to go to uni in L.A but I'm not sure of the cost for a full 4 years of tuition, or how to even look for universities. I want to be a film director or screen writer when I grow up so if that helps you with uni's then that's cool. Also I have dyspraxia and aspergers. I live in London, my mum is a P.A to the editors at ITN (ITV News) and my dad is a project manager (at the moment) in the Ministry of Justice, he is a grade 7. Could someone tell me how to search with those parameters or let me know of any uni's that will take me. If I can't go to L.A then Florida, Washington, or New York is cool. Thanks!

Answer:
The only parameters that really matter from what you have mentioned is your course of study. Firstly you need to know which universities in L.A, Florida, Washington and NY offer a degree program that is suitable for what you want to do. This will require extensive research on your part since there are so many schools in these cities and states. Below I have included a few links that list the universities in the areas that you are interested in. From there, click on a university and then visit that universities actual website. Then find a link for "academics" or "programs" and there you will find a list of degree programs. To find out the application process, go back to the home page and find the "prospective student" link, followed by "international student admissions" If accepted you will then receive an I-20 and with that you pay the SEVIS and apply for an F1 visa at the U.S.Embassy in London.

First you need to find out which ones you want to apply to and what courses. Next you need to email them or call them, although emailing would be cheaper. They will give you the appropriate details and probably an estimation on costs. You may want to go out there to view these universities though, remember to get a visa then.

You can probably estimate about $60,000 US dollars a year for tuition and dorms in LA. Florida might be a little cheaper, but DC and NY will be higher. Keep in mind, also university tuition usually goes up every year. Also, getting accepted into University of LA college of film is EXTREMELY competitive, and unless you can demonstrate a great deal of talent you probably won't get in. Why not try making some amateur films with friends first? You can post them on Youtube and see if you get any viewers. Good luck!

Its gonna be so expensive.

at least $100 000 just for tuition. Possibly a lot more, up to $40 000 a year. You need to show that you have enough money for tuition and living expenses and be accepted by an university in order to get a student visa. Every university has a website with information for foreign students to apply. There are probably 30 to 40 universities in the general area. If you want to know which one has the best reputation, then google top ranked universities for film in the US and you'll find some results. One requirement to be ready for studying is being able to use a search engine to good result... I would highly recommend to study in London, particularly since your mother probably can help you with getting internships. You can check whether you have to be enrolled for a minimum number of credits at an US university of your choice in order to get a degree there (some have such requirement, some UK universities have that as well). Then you could transfer for your 3rd or 4th year and still get a degree there, but pay a lot less money...

LILY: We do have a Ministry of Justice in the UK. As for yourself everything will be up to your parents. They will be the ones paying huge fees for you. They will also have to sort out visas and admissions. So let them deal with it. UK

I would imagine at least 75k a year, so in total around 300k.

Ministry of Justice? ..we don't have one of those in the U.K...anyway...save up about £25,000 and then consider applying..however U.S. students will get the best places
