Has anyone ever been to New Zealand?

Is there anyone here that has moved from Ireland to New Zealand i need advice!!?

  • im at my wits end i have been looking for work for the last 2 years and have found nothing!! my boyfriend has a job as a plaster for the moment but the work is going to dry up before christmas. we are really starting to panic. things are getting really stressful and i have brought up in conversation with my boyfriend that we should try and move to New Zealand. there are a few problems though. 1. i have loans of about 20,000 euro to pay so will i be allowed into the country with these loans still to pay?? 2. we have two dogs and it would kill us to leave them behind 3. will i be allowed to work in New Zealand?? im sure my bf can get work he is an excellent worker and very good at what he does and has worked for the same company for nearly 15 years. 4. i have a tattoo of three small stars on my neck wil this be held against me if i can look for work?? i know tattoos are a big part of the Morey culture so are tattoos more excepted in New Zealand?? ( i did have a job as a hotel receptionist here in Ireland even with my neck tattoo i just cant find any work now)

    1. The outstanding loans won't prevent your being allowed into New Zealand but you still have to repay them. 2. You can bring your dogs but shipping costs are expensive and they must be in quarantine after arrival for at least 10 days which is also expensive. You're looking at something like €5000 - €6500. http://www.biosecurity.govt.nz/enter/personal/pets New Zealand quarantine for dogs 3. I hope you realise that neither of you can work without a work permit. If your boyfriend has a work permit, you can also apply for a work permit as his partner. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/work/ Work permits http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/work/worktemporarily/requirements/Familystream.htm Family Stream work permits 4. Your tattos are most unlikely to affect your chances of being able to find work, particularly if they are fairly discreet but don't confuse what is acceptable in Maori culture with what is acceptable when you're not Maori. Reasonably discreet tattos are generally acceptable.
