Why do the majority of people buy their dress from David's Bridal?

Because they are inexpensive!

Because, since they're a chain, there is either one in your town or close nearby. Often, for people who live in more remote areas, this is the only option. And their dresses are often less expensive than going to an actual independent bridal store. David's is also a one-stop shop - you can get the bride's dress, veil, shoes and the bridesmaids dresses all in the same place. Another reason? They can often give you a dress directly "off the rack" instead of having to wait 4-6 months for other designers at other bridal stores. (if they do order it, their wait is siginificantly less) All that said, I still decided not to shop there - their customer service is often less than stellar and you have to fill out a form when you go for an appointment - which they use to give your personal info to vendors. I've heard of girls getting a TON of junk mail after visiting a David's. Plus, I wasn't very impressed with the quality of their dresses. Personal opinion, though.

I think people THINK it's the best deal around. I can understand, not everyone wants to spend a lot on a dress. However, I laugh a bit when I see someone with a $500-$600 David's Bridal dress. You can get a very nice Maggie Sottero gown or other similar designer for about the same price. I think people are a bit "afraid" to go to a bridal shop on a limited budget. say under $600 or $700. They think going to a bridal salon means you have to spend like 1K or more on a dress. This is completely untrue. Most dress shops have gowns in ALL price ranges. You just have to do your homework on which designers are less costly. Personally, I would never go to David's Bridal. I'm not really a fan of their dresses. I plan on having a Maggie Sottero gown, hopefully for around $600. The only think I will give David's Bridal is that they have inexpensive yet basic bridesmaids dresses. I think $150 for a bridesmaid's dress is reasonable. Plus, they have them in every color and style. So, it more convenient for dressing 5 or 6 girls w/ different budget points and body types. But.......if your the bride, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

Saying you bought a dress at david's is like saying you bought a toy from Wal-mart. More people will get a dress from david's because it's a world wide company. Not saying the dress wasn't special. I didn't like david's either. The one here requires an appointment to try on dresses, won't let you take pics of you in the dresses, the staff would not listen and was offended if you disagreed with them, and charge outrageous prices for alterations. I wound up going with a local shop. The selection wasn't as big but they listened to what I wanted, I could go in anytime, and the alterations were cheap (although with the dress I picked I didn't need alterations). I would recomend trying local shops you never know what you will find. The only drawback is if the dress is the wrong size or gets sold they may not be able to get another.

They are inexpensive! You can get one for $99 when they have their sale...

They pull people in with the $99 sales on ordinary dresses.

Not only is David's more affordable than many boutiques, but they also have every style and size imaginable, and many in stock so that you can try them on in your size. If you have the money and the time to shop at upscale boutiques, you might get a better level of service and a nice dress. With weddings costing a minimum of $10-15K, a lot of women can't afford more than a few hundred for their dress. It's usually lower quality, but still photographs nicely.

Because they have some that are very pretty and people who are on a budget can go there, try on, choose and buy, also the bridesmaids get a discount if they buy the dress there too. But mostly is because is cheap.
