Why would someone mail-order brides?

I actually know someone who had a mail order bride. This guy is a real @sshole and cannot keep a girlfriend. He is arrogant and think he is god's gift to women. After a divorce and many failed romances, he realized that if he wanted kids, he had better hurry up. He is the type of guy who wants control of a woman. You know, keep her home, barefoot and pregnant. He is superior to women, in his eyes. So, a mail order bride was the perfect choice for him. The bride was from Asia. She was young, knew little english and even less about America. She came from a poor family and saw America as an opportunity of a life time. She was subservient, just perfect for the chauvinistic man she agreed to marry. Things worked out very well for the both of them. They had a child. In time, the wife learned english, went to school and got a good job. Once out of his grips, she gained freedom and knowledge and realized what kind of man he was. She divorced him and got half of every thing he had. This is a true account of both sides of The Mail Order Bride.

A friend of my brother got a mail order bride. His wife is from Honduras. I never figured out why he had a hard time finding a girlfriend on his own. He was/is the nicest guy, he's funny, good looking and all that good stuff. Many women who are in the mail order brides come from other countries and also from poor families and want to marry and American for the chance at a better life. There are some men who take advantage of these women because they don't understand the laws, customs, how americans live, they're poorly educated and these men know these women have no where else to go when/if the relationship goes bad (even violent). They're in a country and barely speak the language, they have no family here, etc. Not all turn out that way though. My brothers friend he and his mail order bride have been happily married for about 8 years and have a couple kids.

Women do it because it gives them men with higher incomes and education than their home countries offer. It lets them escape countries where women are viewed as property, can be raped by husbands, or beat, in exchange for a husband in a country where women have rights. Yes, they will often do anything to get or keep or please their husbands.... Because going back to what they had is not an option. Men may order them because they are looki g for a woman who wants a more traditional lifestyle--wife, mother, stay at home, respectful. Most of these men cannot stand materialistic American women who want kids, but don't want to raise them, who want to be spoiled, but show their man no respect even if he does, who work full time to serve selfish interests, etc. they are fed up with that type of woman, and want some one capable of loving them as men, not just a woman who has no love for anyone but herself. What your topic does is take a few bad apples, the men who essentially buy women to abuse, and say all such marriages are like that. Keep in mind, not all, or even most marriages end up like that.
