Answer:
If it requires a suit yes you can, but if you are talking about a black coat and tie wedding....No Way....too formal!!!! You will need a nice dress.

With today's rules, I'd say yes, you certainly could, however, since attire is specified, perhaps you should go with what's asked. Maybe you can find a dress that suits your taste and style. If you choose to go with pants and a top, choose something dressy & feminine.

If this is a black tie wedding, then NO you cannot wear pants and a top, you will have to wear a nice formal dress also. You can find some inexpensive ones at Debs Shops or Younkers (clearance rack),... I dont find pants a top appropriate for a Black Tie wedding. If its just an informal wedding that requires all the men to wear suits, then I'd suggest to wear classy pants and a very nice dressy shirt.

It would have to be a VERY, fancy slinky kind of pantsuit - out of silk, velour, etc. - something extremely dressy, to be able to get away with wearing pants.

I believe that as long as the slacks are dress slacks, with a coordinating blouse, you would be fine. You could even throw in a nice dress jacket to finish off the ensemble. Best of luck, and I hope you have a good time.

Yes, as long as they are dressy. I once saw a woman in black satin cigarette pants and a purple halter with a sparkly neck line and she had a black satin bolero jacket that she wore for the ceremony and took off at the recption, she paired the outfit with a pair of black strappy heels, I thought she looked fantastic.

A very elegant pantsuit is acceptable. I went to a wedding where the groom's mother wore an ivory pantsuit, and it was elegant and appropriate.

You can wear a dress suit if that is your preference only if the wedding is not black tie. You may choose to speak with the couple and ask them just how formal the wedding is. Coat and tie is somethimes meant to be more formal than specifies. Hope this helps. I'm planning a wedding that is formal but I wouldn't have a problem with someone wearing a pant suit, in fact I think my mom is...so there you go.

As long as it's cute and presentable I don't see why not.

No. You'll look like K-Marts walking in. Show some respect.
