How to become a wedding planner?

How do you become a wedding planner?

  • what classes do you need how do you get in to the Business and how would you start your own after i finish high school i plan on taking cosmetology and working after cosmetology i want to become a wedding planner and just do hairstyling and stuff like that as a side job so how should i go about becoming a wedding planner

  • Answer:

I took my course through the Wedding Planners Institute of Canada (WPIC) it was a class that I was able to get done in a weekend, 22 hours in total classroom time, and it covers EVERYTHING you need to know. all you have to do is google classes that could be in your area, that's all I did, and I managed to find that one, but it is hard to find work when you are just starting out, I have been certified for over a year now and have yet to actually plan a wedding

wedding planning is part of event management so it would be helpful to have some kind of event management (and specifically wedding planning) specific diploma/certificate/studies and work experience google courses in your area and then do a comparison to see which are the best. if you don't want to take classes the best way would be to find a wedding company and try to work your way up the ladder/

Consider seeing if there is a wedding planner in your area who would let you shadow them or maybe let you intern for a bit.
