How do you sign your photography prints?

Wedding photography - photo prints or CD or both?

  • For a typical wedding, which photography production is more common/most used/easy/etc, digital photography via CDs or prints? or a mixture of both? What was/will be your photography for your wedding?

  • Answer:

I would do a mixture of both, let the photographer print a few photo's for you that you plan to frame or give as gifts, THEN get a CD with all the proofs (copyright released to you) so you can print or copy the CD whenever you want. This is the package that I am getting from my photographer plus a $75 photo credit from them. Yes film photography is traditional but the digital is making a big splash in the photography world. As long as your photographer uses a 6 or 7 megapixal camera you should have excellent quaility pictures. This will allow you to have larger prints without any blurriness or poor quality pictures. If your photographer is offering you a CD of your proofs that is a good deal!

We had our wedding shot in film and digital, and we retained ownership of the photos. This is very important. We have CD's of our photos and we have them online as well. You can negotiate your own deal with your photographer. Best wishes!

I do Wedding Photography, and I give them both. Everyone wants actual prints, and it's quick and cheap to give them a CD as well.

You are really going to want to have prints for an album, and for it to be portable to show people readily.

As a semi profession photographer, I would suggest getting a CD and then pick out what portraits you want printed. Be sure to have them printed through your photographer for 2 reasons: He did the work and deserves your business and quality life time prints are NOT produced at your local Walgreen's or walmart store!

I'm getting an album, digital files on CD, digital images on a wedding website, AND all my prints.

Do not get a digital photographer. My wedding photographer is using FILM only. Digital is cheaper and easier for the photographer but comes out cheap looking and blurry. The problem with digital is that pictures look great on computers and TVs but HORRIBLE in prints. I had to search and search for a quality photographer that hasn't switched to digital to save himself time, money, and effort. He actually costs about the same as a digital photographer, but his pictures will come out looking great, not cheap looking. I am not getting a CD either. Prints are best and the only people who really wants wedding pictures is myself and my fiance. For other relatives they can order their own pictures from my photographer or I may give some 1 picture each of me and my fiance (husband) together.

I would encourage you to go for both if you can. The qulity of prints you buy from your photographer should be excelelnt, ask to see some sample albums he/ she has done. We spent more on our pics than almost any other part of our wedding b/c it was the one thing that would last. We enjoy looking at the album and remembering our special day each year on our anniversary! If you can get a CD it would be great too b/c then you would have the proofs just in case anything should happen to your album or if someone wants prints later on, like a member of your family etc. Those pictures will hopefully be part of your family history for generations to come!

S. Rogue: Actually you're probably better off having the photographer make any prints you want (rather than taking to lab yourself). Your photographer should color calibrate their monitor and should have a custom profile for the lab that they use. To Unknown: " Digital is cheaper and easier for the photographer but comes out cheap looking and blurry." That's just not TRUE!!! "The problem with digital is that pictures look great on computers and TVs but HORRIBLE in prints." Also not true, whoever showed you horrible prints didn't know what they were doing.
