I am in the midst of planning my wedding and we are booked on the Liberty of the Seas by Royal Caribbean. When it is released early this year, it will be tied with Freedom of the Seas by Royal Caribbean as the worlds largest cruiseship. So far the planning is going really great. My first suggestion to you is to find a travel agent who has booked a wedding cruise before because there are a lot of details they will be looking after for you. You don't want someone to mess up your special occassion. We have sailed with Royal Caribbean before and that is why we are going with them again. Their ships are fabulous...probably more to do on board then Carnival (flowriders, rockwall climbing, ice skating, mini golf, pools, bars, casino, theatre, and so on). Oh and the DO serve lobster (purchase from a business just down the road from where I live!). The best part about doing a cruise ship wedding is everything is looked after for you. I see so many stressed out brides that I decided that was not going to be me. We are getting married on board in the chappel as my father is wheelchair bound so the destination weddings are a bit harder for him. We will go off the ship for pictures though! This is probably going to be much more special than having a traditional wedding. Just think, only your close family will be there. Everything will be so intimate. And as a bonus you get a wonderful family vacation. Weddings where I live tend to be the typical stuff church service, horrible buffet in a very unexciting community hall followed by a dance that no one sticks around for. Personally...that does not equate to the best day of my life. I would tell you to definitely go for it if that is what you are thinking. Having never sailed with Carnival, I can't say what their cruises are like but I think you would probably find Royal Caribbean would offer a more upscale, intimate wedding...just my thoughts. Good luck and congratulations!

Most cruise lines have a wedding package and a chapel or a deck with a special area for weddings...as far as being not as pretty....what would you call a wedding at sea with all your frinds and family there?? PRICELESS!!!!

I have heard a lot of bad things about Carnival. I cruise Royal Caribbean and it is great. Just a bit more expensive. As for the wedding, contact the cruise line directly and ask them about it.

I've taken a few cruises on both Carnival and Royal Caribbean, but only from San Pedro, CA (3 and 4 day cruises). It seemed to me that as long as you have people with you on a cruise, it makes it much more fun and enjoyable (vs. just the 2 of you). I feel also that Carnival ships are more fun as compared to a more relaxing trip on Royal Caribbean ships. I can't see how a wedding on a cruise could go wrong (I was thinking about it myself). PS: They don't serve lobster on Royal Caribbean, but they sure do on the formal dinner night in Carnival ships!

I just went on another cruise this past fall. I take at least one a year. Anyway, I have not had a wedding ceremony on a cruise but there were 4 weddings on the last one I took and every bride said she loved it. The cruise line will do everything in its power to make the wedding of your dreams. I have been married for almost 26 years but if I could have I would have gotten married on one. Call the different cruise lines and ask if they have any special deals for weddings and such. Some will do the weddings at the port at then those who wish not to take the cruise can leave before the ship sets sail and those who are taking the cruise are ready to go. They usually let the wedding parties on before the regular passengers and they seal off the area that the wedding is taking place so you will have no unwelcome guests. I say do it and have a great time. I love cruising and have been on a couple of different cruise lines. They are all great.

A cruise would be FANTASTIC! My step brother got married on the princss cruise ship "Grand Princess". They even have live webcams of the chappel on board! http://www.princess.com/bridgecams/grand_wedding_cam.html We all had an absolutel BLAST! Especially me and my wife who enjoyed late nights partying with another couple we met who were friends with the bride! WHOOHOO! ha ha ha! I would avoid Carnival Cruises though. Theyre fun and all but TONS of kids running around. Targetted more for families. Although we saw plenty of kids out at the pool on our "at sea" days, it was mostly adults. But a cruise is a GREAT way to go!
Not but if everything is pre planned and people are shuffled in like cows expect a vegas style wedding. it probably won't be that special...Why not go for a bed and breakfest for just you too before hand they do weddings for couples and those too..have your special moment and then do it on board with family.

Why? Are you going to pay for all your guests? Have a land wedding, take the cruise for your honeymoon. A wedding is a big deal because of what it is; it's inherently special. You don't need it to float or be otherwise different. Unless all of your guests are really wealthy, it's a huge burden, and in effect says that you don't care about your guests.

Go to http://www.love.allabouthoneymoons.com they can plan any type of trip not just honeymoons and destination weddings. If you tell them what you like and your budget they will plan the perfect trip for you.Best of all if you use there service to book your trip there service is free b/c the fee is paid by the hotel, cruise line or resort.
