  Its is hit or miss. There are a lot of talented dressmakers in China. One of their dresses might sell in China for $100, but they can sell the same dress to someone in the U.S. for $200-$300. That is a lot more money than they get to sell it locally, and is a lot cheaper then what you can get a dress for in the U.S. However, there are complications. -It could be a scam. While there are legitimate dressmakers, there are also people who will take your money and run. Get U.S. references. -It could get held up in customs. It is not common for large packages coming from asia to be held up for weeks or months. I see a lot of places charge $1 for the dress and $250 for shipping. This is to get around customs declaration forms to avoid taxes. It is probably illegal. -It might not fit. My suggestion is to order now, and have a backup plan. Understand that it might be wasted money and you will either have to buy another dress at the last minute or have your dress altered. I have known three brides that have had their dresses made in China and they all had great success. However, I imagine that if they got ripped off, they probably wouldn't be sharing it with me.
