Answer:
Good Morning America did a story on the Chinese made dresses a few months ago. They ordered 3 different dresses from 3 different sites and all of them had problems, one of them the dress wasn't even finished it had needles all over it. If you're considering the knock off dresses, read honest reviews of the site, many of the sites don't have good reviews. Read them from honest sources (not the website itself, who would put up a bad review for their own site?) like blogs or just do a google search for the site "dressmore.com reviews". http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/video/avoid-wedding-dress-blues-14872390 Be careful what you wish for. Most of the online store with the "good prices" are knock off dresses made in China and they are poorly made. You may see a dress you like they have for 1/4 of the price but its not worth it in the long run, their prices look good but their dresses do not. Also if you are not satisfied with your dress there is no return policy and since you they are located in China they do not have to follow US sales regulations (they do not have to refund you). If you give them the wrong measurements you are S*O*L. If the online places are located in the United States you will save some money and they are trustworthy for the most part. These are a couple in the US http://www.bestbridalprices.com/ http://www.romanticgowns.com/ Though sort of unethical and a waste of their time if you see a dress you like online call a couple bridal shops and see if they have it for you to try on, if they do .. you will know what size you need, from there you can order it online, cheaper elsewhere.

I agree with eff yeah, and I'd add one other thing. Check the writing on the website. Fractured syntax is always proof that it comes from offshore, and for some reason these people never get their stuff proofed by someone who knows English. You could also post the site here and get reaction.

I would never buy a wedding dress online. That is definitely something that needs to be seen in person and tried on before purchasing.

A couple things: 1. Make sure that the site is secure, meaning do a mock purchase. Select a few small things, and when you get to the order page, see if there's a lock on your search bar. If there isn't, don't do it. Also check credit card information, and if they offer paypal. 2. Besides this, there are a few tell-tale signs on the site itself. Check and see if there's a state, town, anything to indicate that's it's a real place. If it's in another country, STAY AWAY. A lot of sites now are offering a live chat or phone number to call. Call it, and ask about a dress, any dress. If they answer the phone with the company's name and answer your questions, then ok, proceed with caution. If you can't get in, or get an answer, abandon it. 3. Check other sites, and make a mental note of all the dresses you see. A lot of sites will simply copy and paste dresses to build something up, then you click to purchase, your credit card has been charged, and magically, the site and your money are all gone. You won't get anything, and if you DO, it will be a cheap Halloween costume dress. 4. Customer reviews can be made up on the fly by anyone, anytime, so these are not really legit, BUT if they have emails that are attached to their statements, you may want to contact a few people and see how legit this site is. Again, not really dependable. 5. Check Yelp, reviews online from other sources, like Yahoo or Google. This is WAY too much to go through, in my opinion, to make sure that something is legit. A wedding dress is much too important and intimate a purchase to trust to order online. Honestly, I wouldn't bother, but there's a few helpful pointers.

Check on the web site for a physical shop address and phone number. Either in your country, or in one which you know has consumer protection laws. (e.g. if you're in the USA, UK is probably ok but China probably isn't). There is also a nifty internet tool called "whois". Go to http://whois.net and enter the name of the web site. It will tell you how long the web site has been in existence, i.e. how long they have been doing business on the web.

Also, see what you find on the Better Business Bureau (BBB.org).

How exactly are we supposed to know if it's a safe site? If it hasn't come recommended highly, I would never buy it online
