Which Poconos Honeymoon Resort Location Best for Winter?

  • My soon-to-be husband and I are looking to have our honeymoon at the Poconos Resort (in PA) and wonder which would be the best for winter? The Cove Haven, Pocono Palace and Paradise stream all seem to gear more towards summertime/outdoor activities. We don't ski or snowboard, but I know there is SOMETHING there for us to do. Has anyone been during the winter months and can give advice? Thanks!!!

    Cove Haven and Pocono Palace are, from what I've heard, kind of cheesy. Yeah, the whole champagne bubble bath thing is kind of cool but I don't think the resorts offer a lot in ways of providing a lot of activities. However, if you want an adults-only getaway these would probably be your best bet. We just got back (yesterday!) from The Poconos and our friends stayed at Great Wolf Lodge. It was INCREDIBLE and we were lucky enough to get two extra wristbands to the resport so we could use the amenities. They have a HUGE indoor water park with dozens of water slides where we spent hours. They had a bunch of different restaurants in the resort and tons of things to do all day. There are A LOT of kids, but we are childless and still had a lot of fun. It is also close to a lot of activities downtown so if you wanted to get out and explore there's plenty to do.

The Poconos are great for hiking, snowshoeing (when there is snow), cross-country skiing and just cuddling around the fire if you don't ski (I don't either). As for which resort to choose, take a look at the amenities (pool, restaurant, game room, fireplaces, entertainment, etc) and choose based on who is offering the most activities during the time you will be there. We once went out with a tracker who led a group tour of the woods with tracking, survival tricks and tips and orienteering, that was really cool. Also, there is snow tubing at some resorts as well.
