Can I use my temporary ID to get married?

  • Hello, I'm 17 years old & I'm turning 18 in 2 months, I need my mother to sign for my marriage. However, I can't get married (in New York) without my ID. I don't have a school ID because I was a home schooled student. I know at the DMV they give you a "temporary ID" until everything processes, & I was wondering; can I use that temporary ID to get married?

    i don't think your information is correct. dmv normally processes the id for you while you wait unless things are very different in new york than anywhere else in the country. if your mother is going to be present to sign for you when you go to get your marriage license, and they do only give you a temporary id, you should be fine since your mother can vouch for you...just be sure to take your birth certificate with you.
