What should I expect at a speech and developmental evaluation?

What can i expect at the evaluation for bipolar disorder?

  • Hi.I am 24 years old.I have a mother who has suffered from bipolar disorder for years. She was the first person to notice a change in my moods and behaviour. She seen some of the signs and symptoms of bipolar in me.She told me that the illness can be genetic and run in families.I agreed to go along to my family doctor with her and i spoke to him about what has been going on.My mum also gave her input. My GP suspected bipolar and referred me to a psychiatrist for an evaluation for the disorder. My appointment with the psychiatrist is next week and i am really nervous and apprehensive about it.Nervous because i don't know what to expect at the assessment and apprehensive that they will say i have bipolar disorder the same as my mum.I want to be prepared. What can i expect at the evaluation with the psychiatrist? Will they basically ask me a tonne of questions?Should i bring my mum along with me?Thank you
