How do I stop sleep talking ?

When I sleep I start talking. I know because I sleep with my boyfriend and he tells me that I'm talking to someone like on the phone probably with my friend or sometimes I say "paw" or "sit" because I've been training my dog so I say that in my sleep and sometimes I answer my boyfriend while I'm sleeping when I don't even know. He says "what did you say" and I say "shutup" and I also say secrets in my sleep ! I don't want him knowing all my secrets. How do I stop ? Please help and don't say go see a doctor or get rid of stress.

Depend on underlying cause. There is no known way to reduce sleep talking. Avoiding stress and getting plenty of sleep might make you less likely to talk in your sleep. Keeping a sleep diary for 2 weeks can help identify your sleep patterns and may help your doc find out in an underlying problem is causing your sleep talking. Note when you go to bed, when you think you fell asleep and when you woke up. Write down all your meds and when you take them; and what you drink, especially caffeinated drinks and alcohol; and when you exercise. Somniloquy (sleep talking) is not usually considered a medical problem. Hoiwever, some people who talk in their sleep have a disorder, such as REM sleep disorder behavior (RBD) or sleep terrors. Other things that can cause sleep talking: certain medications emotional stress fever mental health disorder substance abuse See a doctor since it is interfering with your sleep, or someone elses There are no tests to diagnose sleep talking, however your doc may order a sleep recording polysomnogram if you have signs of a sleep disorder. Sleep talking rarely requires treatment. Talk to your doctor about treatment options.

Sometimes certain things can invoke sleep chatter such as emotional distress, substance abuse, medication, fever, etc. I would suggest if it is a real problem then see a specialist. (Sorry, I know you did not want to hear that D: )
