How can i fix my computer?

How can I make myself not feel stressed out and depressed because I can't fix the main computer?

  • There is one main computer out of 4 in the house and that is my father's computer. It is an 2005 Dell Dimension Computer that has been having troubles since the first day my father and I have used it. I really don't know why that computer has so many problems. Yesterday morning, it was working fine until It decided to act up in the evening when the Norton Internet Security 2010 started acting up say it was out of date when it says it just updated 2 minutes ago. I even tried reinstalling Windows XP but it still won't work. That is the main computer and my father and I use it a lot and no other computer in the house could print because it's the main computer hooked up to the printer. I have 2 personal computers out of 4 computers and no one touches my 2 personal computers. I feel so depressed and stressed out and helpless because I can't fix it, I need that computer to burn and copy DVDs and print and all sorts of things with a pc in that center, without a pc I can't do anything. How can I feel not so stressed out and depressed because I can't fix it ?? How come it is acting this way ? I feel like i'm going to punch and hurt someone, I treated that computer with good care and this is what I get in return. I don't trust Free Anti-Virus softwares so don't tell me to use a freeware.

  • Answer:

it seems you aren't asking how to be less stressed...you are asking how to fix it. you need to take a deep breath and focus on a completely different activity for a while. maybe in a little while you will be able to approach the situation with a fresh perspective.

AVG anti virus(free) is very reliable. Norton is a strong anti-virus but it's always paid-for and as far as I've been using it I've always had issues with it expiring and not working how i want it to. Computers can have a LOT of problems causing them to dysfunction. If any solution i'd get a new one. In some cases it's just best to replace something that refuses to work properly no matter how much work you put in it. all together there's no reason to get stressed over a computer issue. small edit, you're too suspicious of freeware. Things like Mozilla Firefox and OpenOffice for example are excellent and massively used freeware programs, completely reliable at that as well. Same goes for a lot of anti-virus programs.
