Difference between sun sign, moon sign, rising sign?

  • I'm really confused now. Apparently my sun sign is pisces, moon sign is aries and rising sign is tarus. All this time I just thought I was straight pisces. Nothing but pisces. How do these sun, moon and rising signs affect me supposedly? So here are my main questions: -What's the difference between a sun, moon and rising sign? -How are these supposed to affect me? -How exactly are they determined? -With the pisces moon sign, taurus rising and aries sun sign, what am I supposed to be like? Just curious. Thanks

    Each of the planets rule different areas of our "person" and astrology is the sum of many parts. It is intimidating when beginning to learn astrology because there IS so much to learn and often astrologers speak in a different "language" which is not easy to understand. I have studied astrology over 30 years and have titled myself "The Slowest Student of Astrology in History." That would be me! For a beginner a few keywords are plenty to first, memorize, and second, be able to interpret. This was my greatest hurdle in learning astrology. And never forget that every definition that you read is just one person's opinion. We all have one. This is how I finally began to interpret a chart: Our Sun=Our Nature Our Moon-Our Emotions Our Rising Sign (or Ascendant, same thing)=Our Personality, Our Personal Appearance, Our First Impression We Make These three things are the Foundation of your Natal Chart and try to synthesize these FIRST and then move onto the other planets for more detail regarding other areas of your life. Since your Sun is Aries you probably have an out-going nature and probably love a good "battle" but the lesson with Aries is only to choose worthy battles. Too often Aries fight over anything as they do enjoy the thrill of conquest. So I would say you probably have the nature of a warrior. This Aries Sun is quite at odds with your Pisces Moon which is your Emotions and Pisces is kind, caring, compassionate in a positive light but if stress aspected (how other planets make angles to your moon) there can be TOO much emotion, escapism of any kind from food to drugs, and at worst, a lying con artist. Each sign has both positive and negative characteristics. The negative aspects are conjunctions of incompatible planets (like moon and mars), squares, and oppositions. I like to call these aspects Life Lessons. These hard aspects are what we are here to better ourselves. So they aren't always bad, they are just lessons that we need to learn. We want to overcome our Life Lessons. So right now we see a duality in your Fiery Aries Nature and your Kind Compassionate Pisces Moon. I imagine that sometimes you might surprise others when that sweet Pisces Moon rises to the occasion. See how different they are? This is what makes astrology fascinating to me. We aren't flat two-dimensional beings. We are multi-faceted human beings that are unique. Each and every one of us is unique from our fingerprints to the lines on our palm to the DNA which we are constructed. Adding that Taurus Rising would give you (probably anyway) a calm almost peaceful personality when you first meet someone. Not giving a hint of that energetic Aries Nature within. And blending quite well with your Pisces Emotions of your Moon. So you have three distinct "energies" just in those three placements alone.
