Answer:
This is an excellent question. Took me a long time to understand how all of these "predictive" aspects and placements could work together. Well, they do. Transits first as they are easier to understand. First, the squares and oppositions are always stress aspects. A conjunction can be stress if the two planets are inharmonious, like moon and mars conjunction. Emotions combined with action, anger, or battles. Trines and sextiles are considered easy aspects. And again, the conjunctions can be easy too, depending on the two planets involved. Say Moon and Venus are conjunct. Pretty good. Emotions and relationships. They fit together nicely. So you have to use your own judgment when there are multiple stress aspects to a planet while there are a couple of easy aspects also. Generally, an easy aspect does help mitigate the stressful energy of a hard aspect (squares and oppositions, some conjunctions) Transits are basically where the planets are currently located and the aspects that these transiting planets make to your natal chart. The outer planets are often used the most as the inner planets move so quickly. Progression are helpful for the inner planets and the life lessons regarding our inner planets. I like to put my natal chart on paper, the old fashioned way. Then I draw an additional circle around the natal chart for the current planetary transits. Generally, the outer planets are focused on more as the inner planets move quite quickly. The longer transits usually indicate more time to learn the life lesson of the planets and their aspects. So put the current transits around your natal chart, and then look for aspects. Actually all this can be done on the computer. Then see how the transiting planets effect you natal chart planets. Say Pluto is conjunct your natal moon. Look out! You probably will feel some powerful emotions! Pluto will give you the opportunity to "start over" with improved emotional outlook as that is what Pluto does. Gets rid of the old patterns. The only problem is that sometimes Pluto gets rid of all the good stuff too. So that is a stress life lesson. Say Transiting Saturn opposition your Venus? Stress aspect! Your love life may be restricted, your ability to be loving might be the life lesson. Something that you have to take personal responsibility for (Saturn) regarding the relationships (Venus) in your life. Stress transit again. Progressions go on the third circle around the natal chart, transit chart, 3rd wheel is for progression. This is how the ancients did their predicting. You can easily get this off the internet. But we used to have to get out the ephemeris and count from the birth date with one day in the ephemeris equaling one year in ones life. A day for a year. The outer planets barely move, so this is how we get predictive information for the inner planets. When the Progressed Sun moves into the next sign sometime within the first 30 years of life, that is a Major Progression as you will add the new sign's characteristics into your nature. This is so we don't become stagnant. These progressions are still accurate to this day. So you can have transiting Saturn conjunct your natal Sun and your Progressed Mercury could be squaring your natal Saturn. Both of these aspects are stressful. Therefore, there will be some life lessons learned regarding Sun Saturn and Mercury! Time always brings about a change in astrology. Hope this is helpful. Good luck and bless you.
