How do i belt out high notes in my chest voice quietly?

• My asian friend is a really good R&B singer. she can do trills, licks, runs, sing mariah carey songs, and do amazing things with her chest voice, although she does not know how to use her mixed voice. Her head voice is beautiful and she combines it stylistically to sound exactly like a professional. I would like to be able to do the same things she does, and I have been seriously singing for about 3 years now. People say we sound very good when we do harmony together, except she can belt high notes quietly without using her mixed voice. It sounds sooo good and i want to learn how to do that. When i go up in my chest voice, i have to really belt it out and it almost sounds like shouting. When i sing, it kind of sounds like my regular talking voice except with vibrato and a lighter tone. i really want to make my voice unique. How do i do this? Are there any techniques i can always use to belt in order to minimize being too loud or cracking, and maximize control over my voice? How do i expand my belting range without mixed voice? I need detailed techniques that will help me while performing and practicing. Please answer all of these questions ASAP. By the way, I am mostly a self taught (don't worry. I know how to protect my voice) with a range from D3-Ab6, except my chest voice is very low (can only go up to D5, sometimes it is either shouty or flat). I have an thick voice.
