A light weight 400cc motorbike?
-
Hi, I'm looking to take my full motorbike test however due to my size I'm slightly concerned about the weight of a bike. I'm 5 foot 6 or 7 inches. My current bike, Yamaha TZR 50 has a seat height of around 31 inches and I'm comfortable on that. Any help and suggestions would be appreciated.

Answer:
Just ride your bike like you do now, but practice the road course if you can before you go for your test, it is not the size of the bike it is the way you ride it that makes a difference if you will pass or not. I am 5'8 and I took mine on a Kawasaki Ninja 600 weighing it at 680 pounds and it was easy for me because I rode that bike every day and every where and practice all the things that I knew were going to be in the test not to mention that I also rode dirt bikes and road bikes most of my life before getting my license. There were a lot of guys there when I went for my license and all of them were on scooters because they thought it was better and easier for them, but if you don't know what you are doing or what license you need you may end up getting a scooter license instead of a motor cycles license. So it doesn't what kind or how big the bike is, but how good you are on it. If you can not pass on the bike you have now then getting on a biker bike is not going top help you it will just be harder for you to handle, unless you want to get a motor cycle license instead of a scooter license then you will need to get in some ride time with a bigger bike.... Practice, practice, practice is the only thing that will help you get your license, if not then stick to driving cars it will be safer for you....

the suzuki bandit 400 is a great small bike. Not too big, not too heavy though still pretty fast. At 5'6" though, you could easily fit many 600's on the market. Its not about the weight of the machine but more the ballance on the machine.Even if you are sitting your restricted lisence you could have the 600 restricted if you wanted to. Shop around and have a seat on as many as possible before you buy one. Good luck with the test and with the new bike. Ride safe.
