Yes there are Bikes out there that are automatics. I know I own One, Its a '79 Honda 400. I picked it up for about $500.00. Its a great starter bike. It has no clutch, and two gears. you shift it just like you would on any other bike. I now have a small collection of bikes and I custom most of them.

Don't bother trying to find an automatic bike. Start with something small, but not too small. A 250cc Nighthawk, or Rebel, or something like that. Get used to using the gears & clutch, because you WILL NEED TO KNOW these things on any larger bike, i.e. a Ninja. Automatic bikes are RARE, and they are for *******. Start out in large parking lots where you can't kill anyone including yourself, and take a riding class! It's not hard, and once you get it, it will become second nature! I have a 750 Nighthawk, ride it all the time! Good luck!

There are no small, automatic bikes. So start on a mountain bicycle. If you can shift a bicycle, you can shift a motorcycle. Then get one of your friends with a small dirt bike to teach you. Check this web site article on the subject: http://motorcycles.about.com/cs/beginners/a/youcanrideabike.htm

Listen, the thing about bikes (I ride one, by the way) is you can be ROAD PIZZA very easily if you don't know what you're doing. So go take a class. I took one in california called CC Rider through the SF Motorocycle club. I'm sure there's a motorcycle club in your town that has one or can point you towards one. The class will give you not only the basics on bike operation, it will give you some very basic riding lessons and get you going shifting gears and such. Plus, at least in Cali, if you pass the class driving test you automatically pass the DMV driving test, all you have to do is take the written. WHich is very cool. The class also teaches you a BUNCH about safety and maintenance. I think mine cost $60, though this was at least ten years ago. Anyway, even if it was $200 it would be money well spent. Remember: road pizza. What is that? That's what happens to your skin when you wipe out on a bike at any speed. It's not even having anything to do with breaking bones or hurting your head or spine, which is very easy. No, road pizza is where you scrape on the pavement and you get a gravel and dirt embedded in your skin. here's the fun part: lot of times when you get injured like this they can't give you anesthetic. So you get to get your skin cleaned out just as you are. Fun fun fun! Road pizza.

all bikes are manual trans first gear is always 1 tap down on the shifter with the left foot clutch is your left hand and your throttle is you right grip you twist to give more gas depending upon the bike the rest of the gear are one pull up on the shift linkage from the last gear you were in 2-4 or 2-5 if a 4speed or 5speed some may have a 6speed when you want to get to first you have to press the shifter back down as many times as you pulled up to get back in low. Neutral id half a tap up good luck

Take a rider safety course. They provide the bike, it will help you learn the basics and gain confidence. Start with a used 250-500 cc bike. They are easy to handle and if (when) you drop it for the first time you will not be wrecking a new bike. Most accidents with new riders happen at slow speed where they forget the basics. Automatic bikes are generally either motor scooters or large Goldwing style bikes. The safety class will teach you how to ride the manual transmission and you will enjoy it much more. Good Luck and keep the painted side up! I have taken the course twice in my life and will probably take the advanced course to freshen up on skills. Here is a link for you to find one near you.
