Is a Honda Ranchera good ATV?

Why would a Honda Dealer lie to a customer telling him nothing is wrong with his ATV?

  • Customer brought me is older Honda Foreman after he just picked it up from the local Honda dealer that told him nothing is wrong with it. the right rear axle bearing is bad, the brake master cyl was dry, the front brake shoes were down to the metal, ruined the drums, wheel cyls shot. I can't understand why the Honda Dealer missed that or why they didn't want to make money repairing that, or how they missed those problems? The ATV wasn't under a warranty, the man has the money to have it fixed and he wants it fixed. I just can't understand how dealer mechanics turn away business like that?

  • Answer:

the Honda dealer where i live (one of the largest in California) has the worst service department i have ever seen. last week they couldn't even sell me a tire for my sons 2006 rebel 250.. instead of replacing the tire, they suggested we trade it in on a new bike. the Honda dealer here does NOT have factory trained service people to say the least..

I'm a honda dealer and we will always take as many service jobs as we can. I can understand warranty claims being ignored because honda pay us very little to carry out warranty claims and if you have rusty bolts / broken bolts ect we LOSE money because it takes longer then honda will pay for. But as it wasn't under warranty I would guess your friend asked them to look at the engine and not the quad itself? or they put an inexperienced employee onto the job? When it comes to things like this I promise you it's not the dealership themselves. It's the employee who can't be bothered to work on a muddy rusty quad or things along them lines. Dealerships are businesses we make more money by keeping long-term happy customers that return year after year for servicing and repair. If you sell a quad and make say $1200 that's a one time thing but if that same customer gets his quad serviced with you for the next few years your get a better profit. At our shop we've returning customers from 15-25 years ago that will not go anywhere else because of our great service and willingness to help as much as we can. No dealership will throw away business and face losing a returning customer. It's the people within the business that have no gain whether they service your bike or not. the guys who just work at a shop and just look forward to there pay check and take no pleasure or pride from doing a good job done right. I don't mean every dealer you go to will have people like that but some do. This is all just my opinion but it would of been best to tell the boss of the dealership and see if they will fix it for a discount. Also Honda are very strict about customer service, If you email Honda direct they will atleast write the dealership to resolve any issues.

Sounds, like no one actually looked at it in the first place. A mistake?

They're just there to make it look like if you buy the things they sell, you'll be taken care of while you own it. But you won't! Even when you are under the best service plan, they only pretend to do stuff like change oil, fluids, windshield wipers, broken parts, etc. It's a hoax.

It's a Honda what do you expect! you moron.
