Can I ride a moped on L plates?
-
I have a full (clean) UK car driving licence that I obtained in 2002. I want to know if I am able to ride a 50cc moped WITHOUT having to take my CBT first if I ride it on L plates? If I do need to take my CBT first, how quickly can that be booked and passed?

Answer:
If your licence was first issued in 2002 you will have to take CBT before you can ride on the road. After you pass CBT you can ride with L plates. To ride without L plates you will have to take a theory and practical test and please note that CBT is only valid for two years. On licences issued before 1997 a car licence was also a full moped licence and there was no need for CBT or a test to ride without L plates.

you have to sit a CBT, should only cost around £100 for 1 day.
