A good pit bike for doing jumps?

How do I change the oil in my pit bike?

  • Ok. I know. I'm a retard for asking. I race bikes. Not motorcycles. All I use my pit bike for is pulling my friends in for jumps. So how do I change the oil? I need to do it. Should I just have a shop do it?

  • Answer:

NO NO NO!!! A shop will overcharge you and you are very capable of performing this easy task yourself! First, start up your bike and find a suitible container to drain the old oil into. Once you bike has been running for 3-4 mins, shut it off. You need to look on the bottom of the motor to find a bolt that has a copper or silver sealing washer on it and remove it. The bolt could also be on the side of the motor near the bottom... Remove the bolt and let the warm oil drain into the pan, when it is finished draning, re-install the bolt and washer. (Washer will not usually need to be replaced.) Fill your bike with the recomended amount of oil (sometimes it will say near the fill cap.) use standard 10w40 oil that is NOT energy conserving... Usually, pitbikes don't have an oil filter, but it it does, replace every few oil changes. (do this before adding oil!) You should be good to go!
