Is this a good motorbike for a first bike?

What is a good motorbike for someone my size as their first bike?

  • I'm 5 foot 9 and weigh about 60kgs and im looking at buying my first motorbike (LAMS bikes). My girlfriend likes cruisers such as a Yamaha V-Star 650 classic so i went to the dealership and sat on it to see what the weight was like and i cold get it up and move it side to side but not too much and not without holding the handles. Is it normal for a cruiser bike to be a bit heavy to you or not? and what do people recommend?

  • Answer:

all motorcycles are "heavy", but a cruiser is bottom heavy, which is SUPER easy to maneuver, well, at least if comparing to to a sportbike, which is more top heavy. If youre looking for a cruiser, any would do, as for a sportbike, i started off with an 05 gsxr-600 , and im also 5'9 .... so far i LOVE it... and im always outside on my front porch admiring her lol...

Other answers

yes, a cruiser will seem heavier. That's because they are. I have never met a cruiser that i can move around easy and i'm 6 foot 2 and weigh 100kg. these bikes are designed for the more vertically challenged among us. And please don't buy a bike because your girlfriend likes it. You have to ride it, not her. Sports bikes can be fun to ride, but no good for pillion rides. Besides, a GSXR600 is not LAMS approved. My suggestion to you would be to look more at the sports tourer range of bikes. These are more a sportsbike power andhandlingg package, but also with pillion comfort in mind.

Of course the vstar is going to be heavy. It weighs around 600lbs wet.
