Which motorbike should i get?
-
heya, so my dad said yes to getting me a motorbike, but there's a catch. i leave the country in 5 or 6 months, which means he'll be using it after i leave, so i need a bike that will suit my taste, and his 'practicality'... i'm not a muscular girl, so i can't handle extremely big bikes. and i'm 5'10, so small bikes or scooters are out of the question too! the roads here are more bumpy than smooth, so a bike with good suspension would be the way to go. i already had a bike in mind, but now i have no idea what to do! my dad's bigger and uhh.. . 'heavier' than i am.. it'd be awesome if someone could suggest a bike that's not too expensive, but kicks butt as well.. oh yeah and one more thing.. they only sell Suzuki's,Yamaha's, Kawasaki's, and Honda's round here.. hope y'all can help, thanks :)

Answer:
Well, you have a lot of good choices. Yamaha 250 v-star. Honda CBR250R. Kawasaki 250 Ninja. Suzuki GZ250. Also, if you can get a Suzuki TU250 that would be good too. All of these bikes will fit your needs. However, if you are thinking mainly for your dad in 6 months get the V-star. He will love riding it around more than the other bikes.

Being a girl/woman that's 5' 10" you probably have tall legs like a guy well over 6'. I would suggest a dual-sport like a Suzuki DRZ 400S. You and I assume your dad are tall enough for it. Dual sport bikes ride better than other bikes on pavement and sit you up higher to see the road better and be more visible to others.
Mech
Kawasaki ninja 250r. Practical. Sexy. Cheap (around 3200 used). Good on gas (avg 70 mpg). Fast. I topped out at 110.

Get a Car! You can't do much shopping with a motorbike.

You have height to your advantage. Like Mech said there are great dual sports that might work well for you. A 400 or 650 dual sport would be great if you want nobby tires. These are tall bikes to get on and off of. A supermoto (also called motard) might also interest you. These are the same as dual sports, but with street tires. The wheels are also a bit smaller making them shorter to stand over. Both these types are made by the major brands. Both styles will take lots of bumpy roads since they have awesome suspensions. One of my favorites is a Kawasaki KLR 650...wish I was tall enough for it.
