Answer:
First, the most obvious...is the tire PROPERLY inflated???? Second, check your wheel bearings....from your despription, this is a prime example of bad wheel bearings. Third, if it is a spoked rim, check for loose spokes, if they are loose and the wheel wiggles, it will need to be trued. Fourth, check your swingarm bearings. Bad swingarm bearings can have the same feel of bad wheel bearings. Fifth, check your shock mounting bushings. Again, bad shock bushings can feel similiar to bad wheel bearings.

Since the tire felt wiggly after you adjusted your chain, most likely your rear wheel is out of alignment. You can check this using the string method, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBxK-OQ--fg&feature=related or by using calipers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Fuh-xg11SE

Check your swingarm bearings. Years ago I had the same problem and had trouble finding it - until a friend rode behind me.
Firecracker .
V twin doc is right as usual.
Your rim is bent, or there's a flat spot in your tire.

check the rim and the tire, if nothing is loose, what could it be? more than likely have the tire checked, either it is out of round or too worn on the middle making turing seem like the back end is wiggling

I suspect that Psyclechic is on the right track. Have you aligned the adjusters correctly – your chain should not be tight it must have (vertical) movement in it.

Improper tire pressure - check and adjust the tire PSI Uneven tread wear - replace the tire

Is your tread even? Are there road pavement irregularities?
