How much is a Yamaha TZR 50?

Yamaha TZR-50 questions! :)?

  • Just need to ask a few questions to help decide what motorbike to get when I'm 16 :) (YAMAHA TZR-50 2010+) 1. Price new? 2. Are lay down bikes uncomfortable? 3. Is it hard learning gears? 4. Storage capacity? 5. Any information I may need about it? Thanks! Some info to help: I live on a small island where 40mph is the maximum limit, and it's 30 on most roads. I'm passing it down onto my brother so resale is no worry for me. I will give the best answer if I get a good response. Preferably good spelling and punctuation so it's easy to read, haha.

  • Answer:

Hi, 1. Around £1500-£2000 2. They are comfortable for a period of time before you arms, back and backside start aching! Probably after a few hours for most people. 3. Gears are a piece of cake, I went from not having a clue where the gears were to being pretty damn good in a matter of hours. 4. No storage capacity, although you maybe able to fit some sort of back box or storage bags. 5. Yamaha's are good bike's, don't look back!

Interesting. I looked up the price and there was only one dealer selling them and he wanted my life's history before he would give me a quote. Used ones go for around 700 to 850 pounds. 1. Couldn't locate a new price. 2. Yes, lay down bikes are uncomfortable for extended rides. 3. No, it should take you about a day to learn how to shift. 4. None, you need to carry a backpack. 5. http://www.bikez.com/motorcycles/yamaha_tzr_50_2008.php

1. Didn't think they were available new anymore but hey haha 2. They can be uncomfortable after a bit of time yes. But don't worry, you'll be VERY bored of the restricted 30mph 50cc engine wayyyy before that 3. Nope, easy. Give it a few hours on your CBT and you should have the basics learnt 4. Storage capacity as in? Enough to store a disc lock under the seat...and not a lot else 5. You really should run this bike restricted. Keep it legal at 30mph for a year and then get rid of it and buy a faster more powerful bike that you legally can when your age/budget/licence allows Might also be worth pricing up protective gear as well...falling off a TZR50 at 30mph hurts just as much as falling off an R1 at the same speed! Might also be worth comparing the running costs + insurance costs of one of these to a scooter, in particular a 4-stroke. They tend to be more reliable and they don't drink expensive oil all the time. If you're keeping it restricted, there's no real difference to whether you have gears or not really and there's no difference in terms of speed between 2-stroke and 4-stroke so for me, a 4-stroke scooter would be a better, cheaper and more reliable bike to buy and own. --Mikey B--
