Which motorbike should I get?

  • I've recently passed my test and I'm about to get my first bigger bike, I'm looking at around 500cc. The bikes I've been looking at include Suzuki GS, Honda CB, Kawasaki ER, Yamaha YZF. Does anyone have any general advice on bikes of this kind. My two main criteria are; how reliable is it, and how appropriate is it for a new rider. Many thanks for your help.

  • Answer:

For a beginner the GS500 in acceptable but it is the worst of the 4 you named ... Many people feel just like me too that the GS is a poor bike, okay it is cheap even to fix but it's remained unchanged since 2001 for naked and 2003 for faired, so it should have been updated already, long time ago ! I would avoid the Suzuki GS go with any of the other choices and you will be fine! Suzukis are great bikes don't get me wrong,,, Just not the GS500 you will be bored in no time it will be a slow ride for you, needs an update and it does not look that good .... As price goes the Kawasaki ER is a good choice and a good bike, THE YZF 600 its the street small "race" good as well and the CB I believe it would be the best choice "Reliable" and Decent overall Naked ride... Any of those except the Yammie. Spend a year on a regular commuter/general purpose bike and then if you feel like you are pushing the bike to it's limit, upgrade to a real sports bike.

might find some thing suitable at your local BMW bike dealer 650's 800's 1000's etc, any all will fit you and reliability is as good as it gets.
