A good pit bike for doing jumps?

How can i force my parents to let me buy a pit bike or dirt bike?

  • im 17 and i want a pit bike or a mini dirt bike, my parents are totally against this because im going to start driving tests soon, but i cannot wait, i want something to drive on the road. A bike would be easier and cheap, but my parents keep saying its too dangerous and your are not allowed to buy one, they want me to practise driving. i am currently practicing but its going to take 6-12 months to pass and then maybe a year to save up for a car and insurance. a bike would be cheaper, upto £750 for a bike, make it legal and insurance and tax.

  • Answer:

You can't force your parents (or anyone else) to do anything! What are you going to do--put a gun to their heads? Threaten to run away and join a biker gang? Grow up. Quit whining. My parents said, "No bike as long as you live under my roof!" So, I bought my first bike when I moved out. I suggest you thank your parents graciously for helping you learn to drive a car and start saving your pennies for a motorcycle.

You don't have the power to FORCE them into anything! LOL YOU will HAVE TO wait til you're 18 and out of THEIR HOME! Ohhhhh to bad.

FORCE.....oh no dear, you will soon begin to learn that when you can't get your way the worst thing you can do is try to force it. You don't sound very responsible to me...in too much of a hurry. Your parents are probably very conscious of this trait in you and are concerned not only about you but also all other road users. You are 17, there's a whole lifetime in front of you. A few months wait is as nothing. Wait.

"a bike would be cheaper, upto £750 for a bike, make it legal and insurance and tax." You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about, have you? Look up "M.S.V.A. test" on the internet and you'll find out just how little you really know...

You cant force them. You need to show how responsible you are, maybe promise not to ride after dark, make sure you can pay for the insurance and tell them the speed of them is restricted. Try hiring a bike first and see how you get on.

You can't force your parents to do anything. But you can try to convince them, tell them a bike would be cheaper. Hope it works out for you. (:

1. If you live in your parents house then you have no choice but to adhere to every single rule they impose - its just a fact no matter what your age and what rights you might think you have. 2. The vast majority of pit bikes are not road legal as are not mini dirt bikes. £750 would not be enough to make one legal, put it through the required tests and pay for everything else to put you on the road - not even a tatty used one. You would have to get a learner legal 125cc bike or scooter and after taking a CBT course you could ride it on the road with the correct insurance, tax and MOT etc. You are dreaming and failing to take everything into account - its OK as you are young and as you will find out sometime in the future teenagers do not know it all and adults do seem to have a lot of things well sorted out - all of them were teenagers with vast knowledge once.

You can't force anyone to do anything. Do you ride a push bike? If not, get one, prove that you can be responsible on the road with that first. £750 won't cover a bike, insurance, protective gear, license, CBT and training which IS necessary. My parents were cyclists and I had ridden a push bike since the age of 4, including many weekend cycle touring trips in my early teens, so my parents had no problem with my brothers and I getting mopeds at 16 and motorbikes at 17.
