How much is a Yamaha TZR 50?

Should i get a yamaha tzr 50..?

  • I am 15 at the moment and looking to get a 50cc bike in June. I am thinking about getting the yamaha tzr 50 iv looked around and i think its a good bike and i like the look of them. but i am not sure it it would be worth getting 2004/2005 model or a newer one. please could you tell me a little about the bike and if its a good bike to get ??

  • Answer:

A guy in the year below me at college had one. I thought that it was one of the most disgusting 50cc bikes ever made! I would advise anyone not to get one being fair. They're also very fragile and sound hideous when they've been de-restricted (which you shouldn't do anyway!) Mind you, he had crashed it 4 times and the fairings are made out of the same plastic you'd find in a box of Milk Tray! It has also seized and broke down a couple of times since summer and he even claimed it did 70mph! (which were just words of fiction anyway haha you get that bullsh*t a lot in the 'posh' 50cc world) I'd advise you to get a cheap and easy to maintain 4-stroke scooter and ride about on that for a year. Then in a years' time, the money you saved from not buying a geared 50cc bike and having to pay for it's rebuild + oil etc... can go towards a 125cc bike when you turn 17. Also, remember that you'll need to budget in for your provisional licence, CBT, insurance and protective gear - even falling off at 31mph hurts and can cause damage... --Mikey B--

Yamaha stopped selling them in 2006 A bit old and very thrashed by now

Timbo is here

it depends how much money you have to spend too... I have a tzr 125 it was my first bike and i still love it now! Although it is 1989 and old boy but very much looked after toy. I have loads of fun on it as its pretty nippy. You have to be pretty lucky to find these types of bikes in good nick, that haven't been thraped or down the road as most 50cc -125cc are beginner's bikes and take some stick. if you do go for a bike of any age to be honest, take a bike navvy with you to give it the once over with you. Tzr is a crackin little bike...
