Whats the difference between the polaroid 600 classic and the 600 ultra? PLEASE AND THANKS?

This is a Snowmobile question Please read.?

  • I am changing sleds this year: Last year i rode a 1996 Polaris xlt triple cylinder, and this year i bought two sleds both twin cylinders. One is a 98 arctic cat powder special 600, and the other is a 98 Polaris XC 600. I didnt really have to many issues with the triple xlt it had plenty of power(of course more is Always better) and handled fairly well. It bottomed out in the jumps sometimes but overall good sled, oh yeah but the crank seized up at the end of winter and i said phooey buying something else. So whew! anyway what am i to expect with the difference of triple vs. twin, the difference in horsepower tourque, basically anything you know---advantages disadvantages of triples and twins----Cheers Thanks.

  • Answer:

The 3s vibrate to much. The 3s seize ALL the time. You'll find your 2s will survive a lot longer. You may not know it but you made the right choice by choosing the twins.

i had a yamaha 700 triple for 8 years, not one single problem the entire time i had it (3000+miles) yes the new sleds of today with the twins are awesome but they are also 10,000 dollars new. triple little more weight, solid pull throughout the powerband. oppisite on the twin. think snow!!

Twins would generally be a bit lighter, that is why you see most of the powder sleds using twins instead of big triples. Touring sleds that don't need the lighter weight and handling are fine to use triples. I would also expect a bit more low end torque from the larger pistons.
