How do you get into motor sport racing?

When is the best time to buy a sport bike in Canada? How do i get a license?

  • I am turning 24 in december. I have plenty of motorbike experience, although offroad. And i have *learned* not to stunt from one accident i was in on my YZ80 motorcross bike. (we thought i was going to be walking with a cane) I do not have very much money, and considering i have to buy safety gear like BOOTS lol.. that leaves less money to spend on a bike. How much should i spend for my first street bike? It has to be a sport bike though, is the only thing. I dont want a racing bike or anything, just something to learn on when next summer rolls around. I am not comfortable driving cars, and have gotten use to taking the bus. I love in Calgary, and cpould travel to Edmonton to get one. When is the best time to buy? Also i cant find good information on how to get my license.. all i have is my learners. The people at the motor vehicle branch do NOT know what they are talking about, and i can't find good information online that i can understand. Please help! Thanks alot

  • Answer:

Usually winter is a good time to buy as sales are slow, the downside is you end up with a bike that you get to stare at and not ride 'til the snow melts. You could find one that needs a little work, get yourself a manual and go to it, then you have a bike that you know from top to bottom. As for licensing, check to see if there are MSF classes available in CA. Otherwise find get someone to interpret at the DMV for ya.

Like the other two people said winter is the best time if you are trying to save some money cuz sales are slow. For what type I would go for a Hyosung GT250R, it is a sportbike, it is a full size sport bike, the price is great and they give you a 2 year warranty. About the license I have no idea cuz I live in California not Canada and other than that good luck.

the best time to buy a bike is definately the winter. sales are slow, and usually dealers are more than happy to hift a bike. usually can get good deals, and buy bikes cheaper than in summer.

1. Find a dealer in Calgary with the bike you are interested in. 2. Wait for snow to be so deep you can't see out your windows. 3. Go to dealer located in step 1 and tell him you want to buy a bike today with cash in hand. 4. When dealer gets over his shock, buy bike at a steal, strap skis from broken down Bombardier to wheels, and push your newfound pride and joy home. 5. Wait patiently for spring. ( Dealer can probably set you in the right direction as far as licensing also)
