What is a good first motorcycle (sport bike)?

  • I'm looking for opinions on a first sport bike. I am leaning towards a gs500f. I'm going to take msf course, before buying one. I do plan to do highway driving, since highways are all over the place where I live. I don't want a tank, or a little bike. I am looking for a fun, quick bike. Just looking for opinions. Thanks.

    A 500 should work out, just make sure since they are taller bikes you can reach the ground with both feet flat at a stop light. If you can't it's too big for you. Just reality, nothing personal. You can only lower it so much, which starts to degrade suspension ability. On a side note a 250 Ninja will move you along very well, and gets ridiculous mileage as an added bonus.

please look at the 50 other first bike posts. the kawasaki ninja 250r is the benchmark for all around best beginner bike. its sporty, its all the speed you need. great gas mileage, not a tiny bike. and not heavy either.

The GS 500F is better than what most numb-brained newbies want, so a decent choice. Still not recommended for a starter, but okay if you're cool with that right wrist.
