How to become a manager of some shop?

Motorcycle shop manager commission?

  • Motorcycle shop manager commission? I have a small motorcycle repair shop & we are trying to figure what commission our shop manager should get. I have come up with this but want to see if we are too high which I have heard we are at 10%. 10% received on; • On parts and materials on jobs that you solicit/bring in and write up that require service at the shop. Commission not received on • Entire ticket… just on parts and materials at dealer cost • Tickets under $500 • Customers that owners have sent to the shop • Parts/materials not installed at the shop • Apparel

  • Answer:

I am unsure how busy you are and maybe that make a difference. I am also not in the motorcycle shop business. It doesn't seem like enough. In what I do shop rate is 80 bucks an hour, plus whatever we mark up parts. It varies average 15%. 5 guys he has under him. If he is a great manager and you want to keep him. My manager earns every dime. I would look at salary with incentive bonus. Then again don't know all your specifics. I also am looking at it from outside the motorcycle world and from a technical service side.
