How to make an art portfolio for a college on my own?

When making an art portfolio?

  • hey, i'm putting together an art portfolio for my first art competition/ college visit and i need to know would it be okay to photocopy my artwork so it can fit nicely on a 8.5 x 11 inch computer paper that way i can make a nice 3-ring binder of all of my art or would that be frowned upon? if it is frowned upon can you tell me or give me a good website on how to make a good portfolio. also with ceramic pieces do i just take photo of them? please help, thanks.

  • Answer:

It will likely depend on which university you are visiting. There are a few that would prefer to see original work but most colleges are going to prefer a color copy of your art. The same goes for any 3D pieces you have that you want to show.I would suggest checking a school's guidelines online before you go to them. Most will post what they are looking for.
