How to create my art portfolio for transferring colleges?

• I am planning on transferring colleges soon and going from a state school that is really big on arts to an art school. I know every school is different and requires different things in a student's portfolio but I wanted to know if anyone has some tips that would help make a great portfolio? I assume that the school will want a certain amount of pieces from each class so I can transfer the credits over...correct? I am photo major so I assume that I will submit more of my photos than anything else. Will I be doing this digitally? How does it usually work? Do I send the college a CD of all my work?

  For admission they would probalby want to see 5-10 examples of your very best work. Don't worry about adding something from each class. Only include what you consider the best examples of your skill. If you are showing the work in person have it matted and get a nice portfolio case to carry it in. If you are sending it digitally organize your work with clear names and dates. The images should be large high quality jpegs. I'm sure either your advisor or the school's website can give you more specific details about what to include and how the portfolio should be sent to them. Unless there is an interview you will probalby be sending your portfolio by e-mail or CD. Your credits should automatically transfer if they meet the school's requirements. The only time you may need to show them examples from a specific class is if it is one they are unfamiliar with and they need to know how it should transfer.
