What is organic architecture?

Organic architecture around London?

  • I'm doing my personal study for art on organic architecture (i.e. natural forms in architecture). Just wanted to know are there any buildings based on organic architecture somewhere around in London, cause I'd like to take some pictures???

  • Answer:

Just east of the Tower are 5 examples of natural forms. They look wonderful..

Try the Houses of Parliament - I know it's a well-worn theme, but the original Gothic architecture (all those verticals) was mean to represent organic forms, plants growing upwards. While you're there, have a look in Westminster Abbey (or outside of it) and see what you can find. And the HoP are a good 'modern' version. If you want to look Abroad, then try La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, or any of Hunderwasser's works. The V&A is probably also a good place to have a look at (go anyway!).
