Does anyone have an idea for an art piece?

Need idea's for the background of my up coming art piece?

  • I've started working on a piece for art, and have what I want to portray in mind. It's about a traumatic childhood experience (no need to go into too much detail) but I don't want it to be overly dark. The theme is more focused on the fragility of children. Whilst I have the main elements of the work thought out- with a child in the foreground of the picture in charcoal etc. I'm at a loss for what kind of background I should do/ what medium. I want it to be quite subtle so as not to detract from the main image. Can anyone suggest an idea that they think would be nice? Feel free to suggest a medium too! I have considered air brush, ink, acrylic paints and water colours I really appreciate your suggestions and will of course only use them as guidelines and for inspiration (I'm not seeking to copy here) If you have photos you can link me that would be great too! : D Cheers :) xxx

  • Answer:

from what I'm reading im visualizing the subject being lit whilst the background is fully black adding a dramatic effect. Like a photograph where you can only see the light that hits the subject. Here's what i mean http://www.cartoonwallpapers.in/wallpaper/Alex-Ross---Batman-Scars/

Tin foil because it shows '.reflection' on the event. Crete paper because it's thin and easily ripped (fragile) as you reactors. Or use a spray can to fill in the backround. You could even let some dibble oerthe child. Sorry it not very helpful! Peace xxx

i would use an ink wash- black but the background should be blurred so your eye goes straight to the child- just like in a photograph by blurrring your background your bringing focus to the foreground- the background can be blurred shapes perhaps a buliding or something grey- the background could be blurred in the sense that everything is moving very fast around the child- the shape of a person could be behind the child but it could be sort of dragged acoross the background to depict the confusion and fast paced nature of the childs life.. hope i could help im just trying to think of things- sorry if i couldnt help
