How to print in jasper directly?

How do you print something out and directly transfer onto a t shirt?

  • my art teacher was telling me about how theres a way to print something out on a printer (i think you MIGHT have to use a special kind of ink), and then i think you either put something over the ink, or on the shirt, and then when you put the paper face down on the shirt, the image transfers. does anyone know what im talking about? i want to make t shirts, but some of the designs i want to do are too complicated for a silk screen.

  • Answer:

If you have a deskjet printer or color laserjet, get Deskjet Transfer paper or Laser Transfer depending on the type of printer you have. Draw your image or whatever, insert the transfer paper in your deskjet. When you are ready to print, make sure you select MIRROR in the options so that the printer will print in reverse. Otherwise, the print will be backward when ironed on to the T-shirt LOL. Now, after the print, use a regular iron and before applying it to the transfer paper, put a blank shee over the transfer paper so that the iron doesn't touch it directly. It will allow the ink to seep better in the tissue . That way, it will support multiple washes and won't come off. That's it. Simple !!! As for those who say it doesn't work well is because you did not proceed correctly. You need to use blank sheet of white paper over the transfer before ironing. This way, it takes slightly slonger for the heat to transfer to the paper but , this is what allows the ink to seep through the tissue and do a better job.

First you need some paper that can transfer ink easily onto clothes and this you can find at a Wal-Mart and such.

I saw this stuff once at hobby lobby, what you do is make your design with like special paint or something then when it dries you iron it onto the shirt, Is this what your talking about?

its actually a dff kind of paper but thats what happens

There are special papers that you buy and you have to iron over them

go to any mall where they have those t-shirt kiosks in the hallway, and they'll do custom prints and I find it to be less expensive and with better results than doing it yourself. sure it's not the same creative thrill, but if you are in it just for a cool unique shirt, just customize it at one of thsoe stores.

Are you talking about iron on prints? They don't normally work very well, but you buy a certain type of paper and cut around your design then you can peel the back off and iron it to a shirt.

well you could buy a silk screen printer..which will cost you about $300 but the easy way id to buy T-shirt transfer paper at a craft store and print out the design and then iron it on to the shirt. the have special paper for light or dark colors too but there is no way that you could just fit a t-shirt into your printer and make a shirt. it would jam the printer and destroy both the shirt and the printer. plus it would take a lot of un-needed stress and time to clean the shirt/ pull it out of the printer and the shirt will get ruined anyway if you do that. so don't put it in the printer! save yourself some trouble

They are called "iron on transfers:" These are special papers that when printed can transfer your image to material. You can buy them at Staples and stores like that. Make sure you get the right kind for your printer; inkjet or laser. Local print shops may do them for you, but often want to sell you the shirt and overcharge, but you may want to check out this option. If you do it yourself, make sure you follow the directions; for example the iron temperature has to be just right and you have to use another piece of material between the transfer and the iron or you could mess up the iron... just follow the directions carefully. I have done it and it works fine. One more idea: if you dont want to do it yourself, ask at a place that prints digital images, even Walmart's photo department. Take your image in on a jump drive... it may take longer & cost a bit more, but its another option for you. Good luck.
