What does "Media" mean in art terms?

Hey, okay so could anyone tell me what "Media" means in art terms? like for visual arts language... lol cause on my sheet is says to list " All media used to make artwork named"... like i think my teacher said media, meant the equipment u used... but now that doesnt make sense cause it says "named" can anyone help me!!?? Thankyouu!

The other responder is correct in the definition of media. I think your teacher meant "the artwork in question" or "the artwork being discussed" when she/he said "named"... like, "list all the media used for the artwork being discussed on this piece of paper."

When asked what media was used, it means, what did you use to create your work of art. Such as, did you draw a picture using colored pencils or paint a picture using water colors, or sculpt something out of clay. In those cases the the media are colored pencils, water colors, and clay. You could create something using more than one form of media and in that case you could say the work is a piece of mixed-media. In singular form it is referred to as 'medium'.

Media means what you use to make your art work. Example Oil paint, Water colors,Pencil,Charcoal Chalk Pastels,Oil pastels Acrylics etc If I were you I would ask the teacher what she meant by named. your best bet. Good luck to you
