Need help with an art assignment please can anyone help?

okay well i've been set an art assignment and the topic is surfaces i realise this is so vague because everything has surface though this is why i need help! i really want my artwork to have meaning instead of doing my own interpretation of lots of random surfaces. So if you could think of a theme? or quote i could follow. And even better find me pictures to help show me your point it would really help. also if you know of any good photography picturess i'd love to see them, i'd really love to involve photography in my art :) <3

A surface can be either rough,smooth, oily,,lumpy,small,large, wet,round ,square soft, hard etc.The answer is far from vague. Everything has a surface.
