Is fashion design considered visual art?

  • Hey, I'm looking for a job that is Perfect for me. I mean I have a long ways to go but I just kinda wanna get a feel for what career might fit my interests. I'm interested in visual arts. Yes, I love painting, drawing and all that fun stuff... But for some reason it's not enough for me. I have always envied people who can touch people and entertain them with the art of movement and sound. I love ballet, dancers, musicians, acters, and singers. It seems they are in more demand now a days compared to visual artists. It seems to me they are able to show their emotions and touch people with more power. I have considered web design, and photography, and interior design, but nothing seems to quite interest me. As an artist I was to hold an impact on people, such as fashion designers do, I mean they make their art and have the world WEAR IT!! That is awesome. If only I had a better fashion taste lol xD anyways I want to give feeling and emotion off when they see my work... Idk it's hard to explain... I want to spend my life making something more then an object that sits on a wall... I was thinking about maybe some how making videos, I mean like animation I guess. But idk, im not going to ever consider a cartoon to give of the strong emotion I'm looking for lol xD although as I'm sure u can tell I know very little about animation but... Idk I need help so any visual art careers u think might help? Thanks, hope I gave u a little info, and didn't confuse u 2 much xD thanks :)

    If you ask me, the power all has to do with whoever you wanna touch - if you know what I mean. I know a painter such as Edgar Degas could touch just as many people as an actress like Anne Hathaway. It's just about who you want to see you and who YOU want to touch with your work; because if you talk to someone like me, I would definitely say that Edgar Degas is much more of a powerful figure than Anne Hathaway, or just about any other actor or actress out there. That's just my preference.

Miss No Name, You might consider landscape architecture or architecture. Your impact is very public, and will be discussed by critics and anyone who blogs or writes about those two jobs. If you designed a public park you would be able to see numerous people enjoying your work on a regular basis. If you became an architect you might design a house for people to live in, a library for people to use regularly, or a big commercial building like Trump Tower in New York City. Filmmaking is a creative career in which you can express your abilities. Film schools are all over.

Hey you want to frame up your career in that field or what? I mean if you are planning for an animation course then get the ideas regarding HTML, CSS and DIV. These fields are sufficient to engrave your knowledge regrading your current interest. Thanks!

Hi Lil Miss No Name, As someone who is creative as well, I understand how you feel. If I were you I would learn how to design web pages, how to create online video, and learn online marketing. So I just finished working on this project and the trailer has be online for one week. Here comes the plug---www.thegranadahills.com. I did this working with my friends. Working on this project, I got to write, work with local businesses, decided what wardrobe the cast wore, make the food on set for the actors, and cast the actors. It was a lot of work, and it require a wide range of skills both creative and business savvy. There is this huge shift to moving toward online video, so I think it would be a worth while project to trying to create a web show. Beware thought it's a TON of work :) But it's fun. Hope you like the trailer, and if you do end up creating a show please share it.
