How to make UIImage background color transparent?

I have to make this poster, and i dont know what the background color should be..?

[I have this geometry thing, and I'm making a Chowder poster [off cartoon network] He looks like thisss: http://images.wikia.com/chowder/images/e/e2/479px-Chowder-Chowder.jpg ., and anyways I'm gonna have him on the left side and a quote on the right side, but i dont konw what color the background should be., i know this is a dumb question, but can you just give me a color tha tmight look good for the background? thanksss
