What is internet portfolio?

How do you create an internet link to your art portfolio?

  • Some employers ask for a link to your portfolio, I know what it is I just don't know how to go about doing it. I currently have my portfolio as a pdf file. Please help? Thanks!!! I tried to google this info. but I had no luck.

  • Answer:

It means that you need to put up your portfolio on a website. The link they speak of is, simply, the URL, or address to the site. You cannot, simply, provide a link that will give the employer access to your personal computer, unless it is set up as a server. That simply means that the website is hosted on your own system.

you have to put your file on a server where it's accessible at all times. It's just like you would make a webpage. You would need a host. If you are at a university, most universities give you the space to make a webpage. You could also try places like myspace, they let you post quite a number of images and I know artists who post their portfolio on there, but you have to make sure they are accessible to people who are not logged in as members - no prospective employer is going to be willing to sign up as a member just to see your portfolio. There are also plenty of web hosts where you pay a monthly fee. As I get my web host for free from the university, I don't know who is best there, maybe ask a question under computers.
