Are women accepted in animation and game design?

Is it possible to get into animation or game design with a B.A. in Art (Drawing and Painting)?

  • I feel like this way I could get learn all the elements of art and principles of design by getting my art bachelor's degree. I'm really interested in character development. Is it possible to go from this to a master's anywhere so I can get into game design or animation? What would be the best way to go about this? Thank you.

  • Answer:

You really want to start on the game design aspect. I don't think you will find any masters degrees in animation and game design without a lot of the computer background already required. So you would want to go for a Bachelors in game designs or something similar, then maybe add on more advanced classes. Having the art background is very good, knowing art and the principles of good design are important, but the degree is not going to help you towards the animation and game design. You are going to need many computer courses, and you will want to take them along with the art and design classes. You will need to learn quite a variety of computer-based design programs and also possibly have some math and physics. Art and design principles are vital, they will help, but you need to consider all the other courses. Good luck.
