Law degree and film industry?

Television/Film Industry: a six month paid internship or a degree? I'm really torn.. opinions welcomed :)?

  • My dream job is to be a production designer. I'm not naive and understand that the industry is a tough one to crack but it's my passion and i'm committed :). What I would like to know your opinions on is: do you think employers would value experience over a degree? As the degree costs money, but may provide me opportunities. However, I do not want to be seen as a typical 'media student'. The internship is paid and would be at MTV. In an ideal world I would do both at the same time but I don't think it would be possible for me to try and fit in both :( .. please help!

  • Answer:

take the paid job. its rare to find an opening even if you have a degree. don't miss the oportunity. you may get the oportunity to do a degree later. even when you get a job. I didn't start my degree until I was 38, ( and I certainly wasn't the oldest in my class my any stretch of the imagination) so its never too late to learn.
