What can I do to make my art portfolio better?

When is a good time to make an Art portfolio, How and what to put in it?

  • I'm 16, Still not very good (Amateur) ANd I mostly draw fan art. I've been thinking about making an art portfolio for college but I don't know what exactly to draw. I've been experimenting with Typography ;and I really want to be a graphic designer. What should I practice if I want to be A graphic artist? Is there a right or wrong way to start one? I have a deviantArt premium Membership that has a portfolio thing, i that good to use? What type of art most impresses colleges? I don't really know I'm still new to this.

    you should begin your portfolio when you are in 11th grade. All colleges are different but you should be focusing on observation drawing- drawing from life... You should have a variety of media, drawing, painting, printmaking, etc. Do you take art in school? If so you should discuss it with your art teacher, and they should help you. Do you have a specific school in mind? Most schools have websites which tell you exactly what they want in the portfolio.
