How do you make paper mashie?

Trying to stain paper or make paper transluscent using kitchen products does anyone have any ideas?

  • im making a parasol out of paper and i would like to use stained paper, or transluscent paper so when the sun shines through it, it creates a really nice effect, does anyone have any ideas of condements etc i can use to stain paper or use to make it transluscent?

    You need to buy paper that has those properties because otherwise, you'll have to use something like Oil, messy, or something that will cause the paper to tear. Check out local art supply stores and find "Rice Paper".

Grease,butter or fatty oils will make things translucent,but im sure you don't want a oil covered parasol, so heres a idea that will make a lovey stained paper! Tea stained paper, wet a tea bag and dap it on paper, also sprinkling coffee also helps and do not soak the paper because it takes longer to dry. Or you could be simple and get some water colours and use them :)
