What can I do to safely advertise my art?

I would like to advertise my digital art for purchase. Is there anywhere I can do this on the Internet? Does one have to have their own website? Thank you in advance for any suggestions an/or advice.

www.Deviantart.com and www.fineartamerica.com You can sell prints of your artwork through both of those sites. It is based on commission mostly but I believe you get extra features with premium accounts which aren´t very expensive. Like 30$ a year I think (don´t quote me on that). But the basic account to sell artwork is free.
