Animation? ?

Background: I got interested in animations by messing with Microsoft power point around since 8th grade. Now for project I was able to make motion pictures with the program in presentations. I decided that it was entertaining and fun to do. I tried a new software called pivot stick figure animation however I'm not very good at it :p. I am not the most hand coordinated person in arts. I can't draw very good at all whatsoever however at the same time I'm interested in animation and enjoy doing it also Questions: 1. Even if I'm not good at animation should I look on it in the future to pursue it as a career? I have little to no idea what I want to major in, in the future 2. What kinds of animations are their such as how they are done. (i.e, pencil drawing, software etc...) Any information on it practically. A source or website would be helpful :) 3.Is there some sort of survey or website online that a individual could take to narrow or find about their interested major/careers that they may be interested in? Thanks for your comments and answers :)

1. yes. but if you're not going for the art aspect of it, you should go for the technical aspect of it. that means studying computers. Pixar, for example, has many specialized departments, and the ones who do the art are not the ones who do the animating or backgrounds etc. So study computers for that aspect of it. 2. pivot is great, but it's just a start. i highly recommend using animation master by martin hash (hash.com). it's cheap and full-featured. and the tutorials tell you about animation principles in general. 3. can't help you there, but these days, if you major in something general enough, you can do anything. don't decide on a career too early in college, just get a good well rounded education.

~you may want review your goals and objectives, for animation , you seem interested in taking the drawing and characters and placing them into a scene and animating them, in a sense you would be programming the animation for media, games, or movie related scenes, you could also still learn to draw and design characters or object as you go, ~more so the animation is computer oriented, though there are still companies using cels (old mickey mouse), and mechanical devices (old star wars), better in some ways, ~ for personal interests you may be best to check local school guidance office and any local colleges, also search references in library for more educational information, ________ pivot http://www.geocities.com/peter_bone_uk/pivot.html TISFAT Stick Figure Animation http://tisfat.sektorz.net/ Pencil http://www.les-stooges.org/pascal/pencil/ Plastic animation paper http://www.plasticanimationpaper.dk/ Synfig Animation Studio http://synfig.org/Screenshots The Clay Animation and Stop Motion http://www.animateclay.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=24 Anim8or Free 3D Animation Software http://www.anim8or.com/ Blender3d http://www.blender.org/ Terragen™ http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/ gmax http://www.turbosquid.com/gmax ..
